Vanguard DHLPP
Vanguard DHLPP Vaccine is for vaccination of healthy dogs 6 weeks of age or older for the prevention of canine distemper caused by canine distemper (CD) virus, infectious canine hepatitis (ICH) caused by canine adenovirus type 1 (CAV-1), respiratory disease caused by canine adenovirus type 2 (CAV-2), canine parainfluenza caused by canine parainfluenza CPiV, enteritis caused by canine parvovirus (CPV) and CPV-2c, and leptospirosis caused by Leptospira canicola, L. grippotyphosa, L. icterohaemorrhagiae, and L. pomona.
- It is a combined (or polyvalent) vaccine required as a puppy series beginning at 6-8 weeks old, boosted twice at 3-week intervals and again a year later.
- The offered product is a freeze-dried preparation of attenuated strains of CDV, CAV-2, CPiV, CPV, and inactivated whole-cell cultures of L. canicola, L. grippotyphosa, L. icterohaemorrhagiae, and L. pomona.
- It is reputed for its confirmed efficacy against the most common canine Leptospira serovars.
Vanguard DHLPP: Indications
- Active immunization of dogs from 6-9 weeks of age. It is given for the prevention of mortality and clinical signs caused by canine distemper virus, canine adenovirus, canine parvovirus, canine parainfluenza virus, and infective Leptospira spp.
Special precautions for use in animals
- Only clinically healthy animals should be vaccinated.
- Animals with parasitic diseases, infections, nutritional and metabolic disorders can cause side effects or insufficient immune response following vaccination.
- It is not necessary to keep vaccinated dogs separated from non-vaccinated dogs.
Target species
Vanguard DHLPP: Dosage and administration
- Aseptically rehydrate the freeze-dried vaccine with the sterile gel diluent provided, shake well, and administer 1mL subcutaneously or intramuscularly.
- Healthy dogs should receive 2 doses administered 3 weeks apart.
- To avoid the potential for maternal antibody interference, dogs vaccinated at less than 9 weeks of age should receive 3 doses, each administered 3 weeks apart.
- Annual revaccination with a single dose is recommended.
- Kindly note that the duration of immunity has not been established.
