REO Oil

We sell REO oil emulsion vaccine which is recommended for vaccination of chickens and against viral tenosynovitis (REO).

• Tenosynovitis is clinically observed in young chickens and mature breeders. The disease can cause transient immunodepression, protection is achieved through maternal antibodies followed by vaccination.
• Do not freeze this vaccine, store at 2ºC-8ºC.
• Each unit of the vaccine is in 1000-dose, implying that each unit will be sufficient to vaccinate 1000 birds.

REO Oil: Administration and dosage

• 0.5 ml per bird older than 3 weeks through the subcutaneous (S.C.) route.

Precautions to take

• Use by instructions of a veterinarian.
• Vaccinate only a healthy flock.
• Apply stringent aseptic procedure.
• Just before use, warm the vaccine to room temperature (20ºC-25ºC).
• Shake well before and during use.
• Discard remained unused vaccine.
• Do not expose vaccine to direct sunlight.
• Incase of injecting oil emulsion to human, see a physician immediately.

Viral tenosynovitis

• Viral tenosynovitis/arthritis is a term used to describe inflammation affecting leg joints and/or tendons in poultry species that is linkable to reovirus infection.
• In clinical cases, birds appear lame and may have ruptured tendons.
• There are no treatment options for viral arthritis other than general supportive care for birds once clinically affected.
• Prevention heavily relies on the generation of a protective, serotype-specific immune response through vaccination.
• Transmission of reoviruses can occur vertically and horizontally. Infection after oral exposure allows the virus to gain access via intestinal epithelial cells. Subsequently, if a viremia occurs, the virus can spread to multiple locations like heart, liver, intestines, and tendons.
